QRIS Implementation Support: Indonesia's Unified QR Payment System

QRIS, the unified QR code payment system led by Bank Indonesia and widely used across Indonesia, was integrated into JPQR Global promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) from August 2025, making it available in Japan as well. Following consultations from Bank Indonesia and the Embassy of Indonesia in Japan on its rollout, we leveraged our network to support implementation at Sensoji Temple and Nakamise Shopping Street. For inbound tourism, the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia personally visited the site for an on-site inspection of the introduction at Sensoji Temple, one of the most symbolic locations.
We continue to support the rollout of QRIS (JPQR).

Creating Starting Points for Japan-Indonesia Business

The home center industry is increasingly shifting procurement to Southeast Asia.
However, barriers such as language, business customs, and lack of connections made it difficult for Japanese and Indonesian companies to turn opportunities into concrete business.
IDJ plans, builds, and operates the Indonesia Pavilion at the Japan DIY Homecenter Show.
Beyond booth design and construction alone,
· Business matching design with Japanese companies
· Post-exhibition follow-up and communication support
as an integrated service.
Building on this initiative,
· Relations advanced between the Japan DIY Homecenter Association and Indonesian partners
· New transactions were created between Indonesian and Japanese companies
· The exhibition succeeded in functioning not merely as an event but as a starting point for business.
IDJ designs and executes structures that connect exhibitions to real business, rather than leaving them as venues alone.

Delivering Japan's Advanced Medical Care to the World
Kyorin University Hospital: Indonesia Medical Business Development Project

Support from medical inbound business design through medical special economic zone research and local network development.

Project Overview

We conducted a feasibility study for Kyorin University Hospital, which supports advanced medical care in western Tokyo, to expand into Indonesia's healthcare market, along with medical inbound business development support. On the ground in Indonesia, we held discussions and site visits with medical institutions, medical special economic zones (SEZs), and medical tourism-related operators, examining medium- to long-term healthcare business potential from institutional, market, and partnership perspectives.

We also provided design support for a medical inbound model covering both Japan's reception system and Indonesia's patient referral system.

Our Role

In this project, we provided the following support.

  • Medical inbound business model design
  • Indonesia healthcare market and regulatory research
  • Medical special economic zone (SEZ) research
  • Introduction and relationship building with local medical institutions and conglomerate networks
  • On-site visits and meeting coordination
  • Market entry phase design
  • Discussions and information organization with partner candidates

Meeting Highlights

In this project, we conducted discussions and site visits with key players in Indonesia's healthcare market.

Key Meetings

  • Kyoai Medical — Director Darma
  • Tzu Chi Hospital — Senior Director Dr. Satyanegara
  • Head of BSD Special Economic Zone Authority, Sinarmas Land CEO, and operations team
  • Sanur medical special economic zone authority and stakeholders, Bali International Hospital team

We held concrete exchanges on local regulations, market conditions, partnerships, medical education, and future business potential.

Tzu Chi Hospital opened in Jakarta's PIK district in 2023, with the President of Indonesia attending the opening ceremony. It is positioned as a strategic medical institution to prevent outbound medical travel from Indonesia. Senior Director Dr. Satyanegara serves as personal physician to the president and is a leading figure in Indonesian healthcare, awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Government of Japan.

In the BSD area special economic zone developed by Sinarmas Group, we reviewed current development status, the local healthcare market, and preferential measures within the zone.

We visited a Korean-operated clinic within the special economic zone to review operations and local needs. We also reviewed development status and healthcare market trends for Bali International Hospital in the medical zone under development in Bali's Sanur area.

Comment

From the perspective of who to partner with, which market to enter, and when to enter, we held discussions with local medical institutions, medical special economic zones, and conglomerate networks.

Starting from medical inbound business development, we provided cross-cutting support through overseas market entry phase design and local network building, progressing as a project that gradually establishes overseas healthcare business potential for a university hospital.
